Organisation profile
Entropic Ltd was incorporated in 2000 and provides high-quality ventilation systems for buildings, with a focus on efficiency, safety and comfort. It provides complete HVAC systems (including air handling units, chillers, chilled beams, kitchen canopies, fire dampers and smoke control dampers) and also aid Consulting Engineers in the ventilation aspects of building design. It has an extensive portfolio of past projects including work in pharmaceutical and hospital environments.
Training aim
To detail the concept of thermal comfort as defined by standards such as EN 15251 and ISO 7730, the factors affecting comfort, models developed for determining comfort and how it may be measured and controlled.
Learning objectives
- To understand what thermal comfort means and how it is defined.
- To recognise the factors affecting thermal comfort.
- To study the models developed by ISO 7730 and other European and international standards in order to determine comfort levels in buildings.
- To look at software and real-life methods by which room comfort levels in buildings can be predicted at design stage.
- To understand the effect of various ventilation systems and products on thermal comfort.
